UI / UX Design

Interfaces people don't have to think about.

Essia is the working name for Simon Schofield's independent practice — designing user experiences and interfaces that are simple, intuitive and genuinely easy to use.

What Essia does

A small, deliberately focused practice — the common thread is making digital products simpler to use, not just better looking.

UX design

Flows and journeys shaped around how people actually think and work, not how a system happens to be built.

UI design

Clean, considered interfaces where every element earns its place — and the rest gets removed.

Usability

Reducing friction and testing with real people until it actually works, not just looks like it does.

Design systems

Consistent, reusable patterns that keep a product coherent as it grows.

About

I'm Simon Schofield. Somewhere along the way, designing interfaces stopped being just something I was good at and became the thing I actually care about most — making software simple, intuitive and easy to use, for the people who have to live in it every day.

Essia doesn't formally exist as a business yet — it's the name I've set aside for the day I take that work out on my own. This page is a placeholder for that plan. If you'd like to talk about a project in the meantime, I'm easy to reach.
